Our latest vacation was to a place called Huatulco, Mexico (very Southern part of Mexico on the Pacific side next door you might say to the equator). A resort spa called Secrets. This is probably one of the nicest resorts I have had the pleasure of staying at. It is an all inclusive 5 star resort which opened in December 2011. The rooms were very clean & comfortable with either a hot tub (in room) a Jacuzzi or a swimming area (right outside your door on ground floor) (your choice at time of booking) , the showers were simply amazing , double sinks, a private toilet (even has a phone..lol) king size beds, large flat screen t.v., stocked fridge with water , juice, pop and beer, all rooms have an ocean view, housecoats and slippers… oh ya did I mention 24 hour room service … whatever you would like off of the menu whenever you desired it…cake at 2 am … prawns on a scewer… we did take advantage of this special feature.. when room service delivered they put in a type of closet …where you open from the inside of your room … so you don’t even have to let room service in … they knock once and leave your food in covered plates… when your done … you can simply put all plates etc. back in the cupboard and they have a small door on the outside of your room where they take everything away. The resort has an all glass elevator which is a little freaky but you get used to it and enjoy the view all the way to the top of the resort..   When we arrived at the resort we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a cloth to wipe our brow (oh the pain of it all)… There are 7 a la’carte restaurants …the food was very good… no reservations needed…except for the Japanese “chop chop†guy who cooked your meal in front of you (very entertaining)… The resort claims to have the largest swimming pool in Mexico … and of course the swim up bar… The weather was no less than 90 degrees each day. They have a spa and a gym attached with most of the equipment you would need including tread mills etc. Another feature we enjoyed was no plastic bracelets and no card needed for towels (limitless towels) The staff were very friendly most spoke a little English some not  at all but they try very hard to understand. There are activities daily , barbecues on the beach , nightly entertainment and of course the disco… the sun takes a lot out of us so we didn’t partake in the nightly entertainment or the disco. We went to a local Eco – Archeological park at Copalita (if you are into a good 2 hour walk you will enjoy this place) We also ventured out to a small town called La Crucecita (where the locals did not bother us with sales at all) we enjoyed seeing 1 – 12 day young parrot and 2 – 4 day young parrots that some vendors had as pets .  On our beach the locals cordoned off an area of the beach as a turtle had laid her eggs & they are very protective of the turtle there. There were these black birds everywhere a cross between let’s see a sea gull and vulture ?! We watched a local kid fish with just some fishing line and a hook … he was catching what he called baracuda’s ( a long thin fish that was blue & silver ) he buried them in the sand ( I guess to keep cool til’ he took them home) We really enjoyed our trip to Huatulco and would recommend Secrets to anyone interested in going to Huatulco !
